1: How to find a server.
There are many different ways to find a free world of warcraft server you can use:
Google (http://www.mmopro.net/forums/www.google.com)
Xtremetop100 (http://www.xtremetop100.com/world-of-warcraft)

2: How to join a server
Pick a server you like and enter their website.
Many servers have a "Menu" with Create account, connection guide etc.
Click "Create a new account" write the account name you want, a password & a email.

When your done click on "Connection" or "Connection guide" and follow the steps.


Go to your World of Warcraft installation folder, then to Data/enGB or enUS folder, open realmlist.wtf (use Notepad) and set realmlist "Realmlist here" and save file.

(u can find the realmlist under connection guide, main page or the account creation page)

There are people that don't know how to join a private server then this thread may be helpful ?

I agree that... I was a GM on a Server and many ppl asked in the Forum or Msn or w/e how they connect and where they can find the realmlist etc. :-) Usefull Thread for New ppl on WoW :P

How is it pretty obvious if you've never done anything like it before? It's obvious to you, doesn't mean it's obvious to everyone. I could say since LUA is obvious, you should go and create an extra long, extra complex script. Which you couldn't do - so no, it's not obvious.

Regardless if your new to wow or not, this has never been a thing you can just look in your folder and say "Ah, yes, I need to change that file to xx.xx.xxx" without having any previous knowledge. One thing I sure do hate is when people say things are obvious, when it's quite damn well sure it's not.
