By definition, one hand cannot "clap". One hand can smack its fingers and palm together and produce a sound. However, by definition there is no sound of one hand clapping and clapping takes two. It's not much of a riddle but just to show you that it takes two things for there to be a third product.

Now don't be confused that nothing is not there. Remember it takes time for them to unite together and fuse, and that they do produce a sound is proof that there was some energy there before they united and produced the sound of a clap..

Therefore, the "sound" of one hand clapping would be the energy of one of the hand moving through space. Once they unite, that energy is transformed in the form of sound. Since all is energy, we can say that the energy of the hand moving through space is "sound" that's going to be transported into another medium.

clap/klap/
Verb: Strike the palms of (one's hands) together repeatedly, typically in order to applaud: "Agnes clapped her hands"; "the crowd clapped".
Noun: An act of striking together the palms of the hands, either once or repeatedly.

Now if someone can play drums one handed, then why cannot someone clap one handed? Striking ones fingers against ones palm in an attempt to clap one handed sounds just like it looks. Strange.

the clap
Nick name for disease Ghonoreah , comes from the noise when back in civil war where they would breakup the puss build up by banging the butt of their rifles on the penis laying on a table.

This can be both contracted and cured with one hand. This would sound like either screaming in pleasure or pain.

Admins please feel free to edit/delete this post if you feel it is too risque for our younger readers. I love this site and wish to keep it family friendly. However, I feel that some topics/posts are acceptable as long as scientific or "proper" terminologies are used in a semi-constructive manner.:p

The Question is

What is the sound of one hand clapping?

lucky winners will be announced on 15th october

To understand the origin of applause as a form of expression, we must go back to the times in which Europe was covered with ice and our ancestors hunted mammoths. At the time when tribal members could bring down one of these monstrous pachyderms, it was customary to give strong head between them, to express their joy. But the chief of the tribe thought the dry "toc toc" clash of heads were not particularly impressive, apart from giving some headaches staggering. Therefore, he called to his cave "man of ideas," which was a sort of ancestor of advertising, even in a version without the braces and glasses colored mass, and asked him to arrange a replacement for the ritual of head butts. The "man of ideas" began interviewing tribal members with questions like "If the ritual of the head was a river stone, which would be kind of stone?" And, after many turns, concluded that this could be replaced by shock of the palms.

The next day, the tribe and cornered a small mammoth hit him with a shower of spears, which so impressed a young hunter that decided never to eat meat and vegetarian so was born the first of mankind. But that's another story. What matters is that after the slaughter of the little mammoth, the chief of the tribe and the "man of ideas" energetically applauded hoping to emulate his companions, except that they do not want to know modernices and limited themselves to change the usual headers ...

This was followed by an advertising campaign of the "man of ideas", in which he clapped when one could catch a fish or particularly tasty when lit the campfire at the first attempt, but not members of the tribe called you all. Then there was a contest of paintings of people clapping, in which competitors have opted to draw all people to give head butts. Finally, "the man of ideas" spent several days near the tree where members of the tribe picked fruit, explaining the advantages of clapping and offering a handful of blackberries that try to shock the bizarre ritual of the palms. Some members liked the experience to be welcomed, because they warmed their hands in that cold climate. And so members of the tribe began to clap his hands to warm up when they were cold. Finally, when the tribal chief and the "man of ideas" had given up hope, the gloves were invented and some members of the tribe began to applaud only as an expression of contentment. Until the day came in which was the largest mammoth shot in the region and all members of the tribe applauded ...Except the young vegetarian, who gave some firecrackers with the language, to demonstrate their disapproval by that barbaric act.
