Crypto Markets Update

Both Bitcoin and Ethereum had an amazing week, going up more than 10% and 20% respectively. With this, Bitcoin is trading once again above the $20,000 level while Ethereum trades above the $1,500 one. However both of them were eclipsed by Dogecoin’s huge 40% weekly growth following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. Obviously the mood is changing for the Crypto markets, with many coins bouncing significantly from their recent bottoms. The Crypto Fear & Greed indicator also seems to reflect this, as we left the “extreme fear” level this week and are now at simply “fear”.

A lot of this could also be related to the recent development in the general financial markets. This week saw the collapse in price of a few large tech stocks, prompted by worse than expected quarterly earnings. These include big names such as Meta, Amazon and Apple, with Amazon and Meta both falling more than 20% in a 24 hour period. These big crashes have made markets change their expectations for the Fed’s monetary policy decisions. Indeed these companies are naming the current economic situation as the cause for their troubles, which would point at the recent interest rate hikes by the Fed as the culprit. Now the perception is that the Fed will have to take a step back and cut rates before more crashes follow and the developing economic recession worsens. That is probably the reason why stock markets are rallying today, and could also explain at least part of the good performance most Cryptos had this week. Markets expect the money printing to resume very soon.

StakeCube Acquires Coinexplorer.net

This week StakeCube acquired the website Coinexplorer.net. You might be familiar with it, as many coins relied on it as their blockchain explorer. Acquiring Coinexplorer offers us a multitude of possibilities, as we’ll be able to connect all of StakeCube’s listed coins, effectively providing them with a new blockchain explorer. But that’s not all; with Coinexplorer our users will get a well know interface they can use to follow their transactions, view charts and all sorts of stats from within but also outside of StakeCube. Meanwhile developers will be able to make use of its amazing API interface.
While StakeCube has acquired Coinexplorer, we intend to preserve its current domain and brand. This was the official announcement from the Coinexplorer team:
“Hi everyone,
You probably noticed that a fair amount of coins in the explorer are out of sync. We are sorry about that.
Some of the servers where the wallet daemons were running were crushed, and it took us a bit to realize it.

About bringing it back to life. Unfortunately, we do not have the necessary time to keep taking good care of CoinExplorer as we used to, and that’s why we are glad to tell you that we decided to pass it on to our friends at StakeCube. They will from now on host and own CoinExplorer.net.
This will be a process that will take us several weeks, and please excuse us for the downtime, but be ensured that all will be working smoothly as before, or even better ”

eSports Bot

This week our eSports bot reached its 50th server in addition to our own StakeCube eSports server. We are happy to see that people love to check their in-game stats and compare them with friends while chatting.
Our Thetan Arena command does show more stats for the players than they can see in the game, so no wonder that it is such a success. There are at the moment 480 Thetan players with their game profile connected with the bot and this number keeps increasing.
We also have stats to check for EV.io also and we got really good feedback for these commands from players and game teams.

Wanna check your stats as well? Then come join us!

Development News

SCC-js Library

Our SCC-js library has been upgraded with the ability to cryptographically verify SCC addresses in pure JavaScript!
This is an improvement over the RPC connection as it entirely eliminates the need for RPC to verify addresses. Also, without the overhead of the connection, the SDK is now 4x faster at doing the same task that was previously done over the SCC Core RPC.

SCP

In conjunction with the SCC-js upgrade: SCP Wallet full-nodes have been upgraded with the latest SDK, and had any unnecessary RPC calls re-written in pure JavaScript, meaning:

  • Less pressure on the RPC (better node stability).
  • Over 4x faster verification of SCC and SCP addresses.

Bear in mind that every single SCP transaction (Token or NFT) requires the protocol to verify addresses, so this is a welcome upgrade for protocol performance and scaling.
This upgrade should speed up synchronization of SCP full-nodes by a noticeable amount, however we haven’t recorded any mainnet tests to determine the exact reduction in sync time yet.

SCP Wallet Download

Want to try SCP for yourself? Mint some NFTs or stake SCP tokens? Download the wallet from our exclusive explorer SCPScan:

SCC Development
This week we implemented a bunch of Dash backports regarding RPC, DMN, memory leaks and various little build improvements. We are step by step bringing our codebase closer in line to the latest Dash codebase. This update has brought more memory management stability with hopefully the same to come for masternodes

Wallet Maintenance News

No wallet updates were necessary this week.
