Thread: How to model edit!?, How to use them!?

!!!!Hey everyone , i first of all apologize to anyone who finds this in the wrong section.!!!!!

Today we will be learning how to model edit

Step 1

Find what you want to edit, we will be using simply a Spiteblade!

So what we will be needing is:

My Warcraft Studios -

This program allows you to open MPQ's in your data folder and look through each one and even extract them, also allows you to create MPQ's and more

WoW Model Viewer -

This program is great to use to see items, mobs, characters, mounts and an array of other things from the game. Is is extreamly helpful

Step 2

• Once downloaded these two programs, un-extract My Warcraft Studios using rar (no explaining how to use) to the desktop.

• Run "MyWarcraftStudio.exe"

• Open Spiteblade =

Code:

File > Open MPQ Archive > World of Warcraft > Data > Common.MPQ

• Once open you'll see alot of things, goto

Code:

Item\ObjectComponents\Weapon\Sword_1H_Raid_D_05.blp

• Note: You will have to scroll really far down to find the item picture (It doesn't look anything like it - The picture)

• Next right click the link and "Copy Treepath" and paste in a new notepad! (VERY IMPORTANT)

• Next right click the link and "Extract file to..." to your destop folder called "Item" (Make it if you haven't already)

• Next open the "Sword_1H_Raid_D_05.BLP" with

1. Photoshop
2. Paint

< Or any either BLP editors.
> Edit it by adding paint to the BLP in random places.
^ You will get better and better at this and soon be able to do like i have done (Link to mine at the end of the Guide)

Step3

• Now Alt-Tab back to MyWarcraftStudio, Close the current archive - "File > Close Current Archive"

• Start a new Pack to add the new Spiteblade -

Code:

Pack > Create new Archive

• Call it what ever you want..
>> N.B << MUST BE CALLED BETWEEN

Code:

Patch-1, Patch-2  till "Patch-9" or "Patch-a" till "Patch-z" 

>> And must end with ".MPQ" (case sensitive)

• So now you have your "Patch-9.MPQ" saved and empty.

> Now add file to archive -

Code:

 Pack > Add file to archive

Click the three "..." locate your BLP saved in Items on Destop, add it, should look like
^ "Sword_1H_Raid_D_05.blp"

Now locate your notepad saved, should look like this:
"Item\ObjectComponents\Weapon\Sword_1H_Raid_D_05.bl p"
Take the "Item\ObjectComponents\Weapon\" part and paste it BEFORE what was in the bar already

> Should look like this:
Item\ObjectComponents\Weapon\Sword_1H_Raid_D_05.bl p

< Select OK - done, now should have a long list leading to that item:

Item\ObjectComponents\Weapon\Sword_1H_Raid_D_05.bl p

And if you open all the leading folders you should have that item you've edited there!.

• Take the saved .MPQ and place it in

Code:

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data

(Default WoW place, if your wow located else-where put it in: "Data")
