Well just because you went to school to learn programming does not mean everything you were taught there is and only is correct. I can tell you that starting C before C++ will confuse most beginners and it will take them longer to learn. This is why most of the C programmers take longer to progress then C++ programmers. Because they spend a lot of time learning C then as soon as they jump into C++ it is a brand new Syntax.
